CMS Problems (Searching for a Good Open Source CMS)
I’ve been searching for a good Open Source CMS for quite some time now and I can’t say I found one yet.
PHP-Nuke can’t really be treated as a good CMS for a serious site. I tried this once and after one year I made so many modifications that the code became unmaintainable. Since then the site hasn’t been updated. Oh well 
Geeklog seems to pretty much be my first choice at this time because of the clean design (not the UI…) and functionality. Users can create accounts, news and article management is present, it has a downloads section. The most important (in my case) section is the FAQ. I have to say I like Geeklog’s FAQ system for its presentation. Unlike PHP-Nuke this FAQ works well with a lot of questions (over 1,000 on my site).
Drupal has always been one of my top choices but there was something that I didn’t like since I keep searching for other CMS. I’m not sure what that was exactly Drupal is a really powerful system and I would put it in one category with Mambo .
Mambo’s not a bad choice but the default themes are terrible. I can’t say a bad word about the system itself – it the most powerful Open Source CMS. I get the impression that it is more for a content site rather than a portal. I may be wrong, though.
