FTTP – Fiber to the Premises

FTTP is a form of fiber-optic communication delivery in which an optical fiber is run directly onto the customers’ premises. If you think your cable Internet connection is fast, then you obviously haven’t used FiOS from Verizon (consumer FiOS / business FiOS ) (currently the only national ISP / provider of FTTP in the USA). With cable you might have fast download speed but most upload speeds are lower than what consumer / business class DSL offers. FiOS changes this whole situation with the following speeds:

  • 5Mbps / 2Mbps
  • 15Mbps / 2Mbps
  • 30Mbps / 5Mbps

The upload speeds are incredible, offering more than even a full T1 line! Verizon is offering FiOS is most major cities and is expanding their network all the time. Fiber has always been a superior medium for LANs (Local Area Network) and WANs (Wide Ware Network) and most telephony networks are based on it. Now you are offered the latest technology straight to your home!
